Biffree’s Cozy Cover Café
Check out our takes on some of our favorite covers. Laid-back, carefree, no filter, no edits, no excuses, one take.
Episode 121: "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun": Given that this song was originally written from a male perspective, it felt right for the Monkey boys to have their own fun and give this classic feminist anthem a whirl. We slowed it down so you don't miss anything.
Episode 120: "Jumper": From the band that brought you, er, Semi-Charmed Life, here's a much better song. It's about trampolines or something?
Episode 119: "Hands Off": This here's an all-time favorite of the boys from their late high school daze. An unconventional breakup song by an underrated band.
Episode 118: "Cover Me": We can't rightly have a show where we play cover songs and not include on with the word "Cover" in the title, yes? This song was just beggin' for it!
Episode 117: “Party All The Time“: This one just started playing in a loop in Bill's head one day, and he had to bring it to the café. Turns out now it's stuck in Jeff's head too. This funky ditty will take you back to 'round 1985, when the partying was so much better.
Episode 116: “Please Come Home For Christmas“: 2024 really seemed to get away from us - plans made and plans cancelled. But now that it's Christmas, let's get together and remember that it's about relationships. Get home when you can. Hug everyone you love! Here's our take on the Eagles' take on a holiday classic.
Episode 115: “Funny How Time Slips Away“: Remember when Country music also included "Western"?. Bill suggested we speed this old Willie classic up a little bit... you know, to show time slipping away? He's really big on symbolism, he is!
Episode 114: “Hey Hey What Can I Do“: Monkey Jeff remembers this as the first "unreleased" song he ever heard. He also remembers being confused, at the age of 11 or so, what it meant to "ball all day". Ah, the salad days.
Episode 113: “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For“: Bill's always looking for a reason to uke it up, and he earns his keep on this one! What started as Mellencamp ended up as The Edge. From the longest song title hall of fame, here's a little U2.
Episode 112: “Backwater“: Monkey Jeff convinced his compatriot Bill that we were going to cover "Black Water" by the Doobies... well, boy, was he surprised! This is a somewhat obscure little gem by a somewhat weird band. Hope you somewhat enjoy it!
Episode 111: “Love Will Keep Us Together“: This has always been a personal favorite of Monkey Jeff, and Bill loved the idea of impersonating someone named Captain "Dragon".
Episode 110: “All Out Of Love“: Let the Monkey Boyz™ take you back to the roller rink for that cherished moment of Ladies Choice, a time of clammy hands and scuffed knees.
Episode 109: “Merry Christmas Baby“: It's that time of year again, and if you didn't know, Head Monkey Bill loves him some Springsteen. So here's our take on his take on someone else's take. It's called sharing!
Episode 108: “Hurricane“: The Monkey Boyz™ decide it's time for some crawfish and rain. New Orleans can take whatever you toss its way!
Episode 107: “The Way You Make Me Feel“: Sha-mon-ay! The Monkeys are about to get all emotional and what-not. Grab your sequins and your, er, parts, and sing along with us!
Episode 106: “The Zoo“: Ja, it is the time on the Cozy Cover Café where we bring it late 70's Deutschland style!
Episode 105: “Stealin’“: The ukeleles are back for some classic Uriah Heep.
Episode 104: “Express Yourself”: Yup. We went there. It's the Full Madge.
Episode 103: “(There’s) No Gettin’ Over Me”: The boys are sporting some slick new t-shirts! Plus, some good ol’ down home 80’s country.
Episode 102: “House Of Pain”: Our first and only go at the Faster Pussycat classic.
Episode 101: “Creep”: We felt like pulling out the ukeleles for this one. Forgive us for having Thom Yorke make us say swears too.
Episode 100: “Santa Monica”: We do a cover after 3 or 4 beers.
